PROMISE #14
I give My Spirit in unlimited measure.
John 3:34
If The Spirit is given without measure, the out pouring flows from the throne of God without being restricted and we are to over flow, our cup will run over, then where does the blockage to the miricles, the signs and wonders, the healings, the prophecies, the walking on water etc. come from. I think Jesus summed it up, ‘Oh you of little faith’ as with all the promises of God they are available without measure and we have access to them through faith. Are you ready for a miracle?
Background to John 3:34
John 3:34 states, “For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.” This verse is part of a larger discourse in the Gospel of John that focuses on the identity of Jesus and the nature of His ministry. It is situated in a conversation that includes John the Baptist’s testimony about Jesus, emphasizing the unique relationship between Jesus and God the Father.
Context of the Verse:
In the early chapters of John, John the Baptist serves as a forerunner to Christ, preparing the way for His ministry. In this specific verse, John is affirming that Jesus speaks with divine authority and is fully empowered by the Holy Spirit. Unlike human leaders who may have a limited share of God’s Spirit, Jesus possesses the Spirit in its fullness. This claim underscores the divine nature of Jesus and His role as the Messiah.
Exegesis of John 3:34
The phrase “given without measure” highlights the abundance and generosity of God’s Spirit in Jesus’ ministry. This concept of unlimited grace suggests that the works and miracles performed by Jesus—such as healings, prophecies, and even the resurrection—stem from a source that is inexhaustible.
- Divine Authority: The verse emphasizes that Jesus, as the sent one of God, is fully equipped to carry out His mission. He speaks God’s words, reflecting perfect obedience and divine knowledge.
- Access to God’s Spirit: The idea that the Spirit is given without measure invites believers to understand that the same Spirit that empowered Jesus is available to them. This implies that believers can also experience the fullness of God’s Spirit in their lives.
- Faith as a Key: The connection between God’s promises and human faith is crucial. While the Spirit is given freely and abundantly, the reception of miracles and manifestations of God’s power often hinges on faith. Jesus frequently addressed the issue of faith in His ministry, pointing out how a lack of faith can hinder God’s work (Matthew 17:20, Mark 6:5-6).
Reflection and Call to Action
Given the abundance of God’s Spirit, believers are encouraged to ask themselves: Are you ready for a miracle? This question challenges us to examine our faith and openness to God’s workings in our lives.

Conclusion
John 3:34 serves as a powerful reminder of the limitless power of God available to us through the Holy Spirit. By embracing our faith and being open to the Spirit’s leading, we can witness the miraculous in our lives. Let us cultivate a spirit of expectation and readiness for God’s work, trusting that with faith, we can access the fullness of His promises.
