He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24
Jesus took away my sin on the cross so giving me an option to live and to live a righteous life. We can’t earn this state of immortality but because of what Christ did on the cross an outpouring of grace has broken death’s hold even on a sinner like me and every wound that sin has ever gouged out of me has been healed by the flesh gouged out of my Saviour back.
