PROMISE #26
I look after foreigners and I help the
fatherless and the widow. Psalm 146:9
Pastors Comment -God’s love is so encompassing that no one is left out of the equation not even those who are foreign to His ways and those who appear to be lost within the close knit family of God. Those who don’t have anyone to turn to can turn to the Father who becomes the common denominator and the pivotal point of reference. Your ethnic background, your status, slave or free, man or woman has little bearing on the fact that a first century Jew died that you might have eternal life and irrespective of the above you are loved.
Background: This psalm praises God for His justice and compassion. It highlights His care for the most vulnerable members of society.
Explanation: God is a protector for the marginalised. His heart is with those who are overlooked or in need, showing His love through action and provision.
Application: Model this aspect of God’s character by showing kindness to strangers, caring for the needy, and advocating for justice. Trust that God sees and cares for your needs too.
